No Cancer!

My father had surgery yesterday and was under the knife for 3.5 hours. My mother called me at work and let me know what was going on. Derrick, Jason and I got to the hospital around 8:15ish. Not too long after, my father was carted down to the ICU to spend the night. We had a chance to see him and he was in good spirits; cracking jokes and demanding ice chips. The masses that were found near his pancreas we just infections, so they had to be drained. He will be spending at least a week in the hospital, and who knows how long to recover. Thanks for you prayers and support guys!

I am sitting in a lecture now, and it took the professor 1/2 hour to get everything up and running :/ So I’m sitting here channing. Actually I come to this class for comic relief for the week. I like the students in the class and it gives me something to do on a Saturday morning.

Speaking of Saturday morning. I was fortunate enough to be taken out to breakfast by an old friend. Had a good time catching up and joking around. Tre Kroner’s has a great breakfast. Oslo for me, and we split a maple/pecan danish and hazel nut danish, YUM and coffee, black.

Ok, I’m headed out now. Talk to you all later.

It’s been a long couple of Months

Well I haven’t updated in a while, so I will begin starting with the new year. As usual I had a low key party at the house, good food and good times with friends. We rung in the new year and 2007 has been bitter sweet thus far. On January 2nd of this year my grandfather passed away. Now in God’s presence I wonder what he is up to. Family came in from all over. Grandma is a trooper though stronger that I, always positive and busy. Later that week I would head out to Duke to watch my fiancée’s white coat ceremony. Started teaching Sunday school this year, stepping down from my other responsibilities at CCP. It is hard work, and I give it up to teachers who make career out of educating.

I started back up at ESD again. It seems like I never left, except for the hand full of new people. I made it a point to take some initiative so thus far it has been a good ride.

This past weekend I flew out to Duke again to party with the finest PA class and spend time with Nicole. I got back in time for the second half of the not so Super Bowl and watched our Chicago Bears fall apart. Then to find out that my father has to have surgery sometime soon because of gull stones. It’s hard to see him in so much pain, not doing the things he enjoys. But hopefully it will be over soon.

Wedding planning has been fun for me. Thinking of ideas and talking about them with Nicole. Some people think Nicole is a cover and that I swing the other way. I assure you, my faithful readers that is not so :) I did however get my first manicure the other day and I must say impressive work those people did. I didn’t know my fingers could look like that.

Valentine’s Day is coming up quickly and I get to go to Durham for a Microsoft seminar for a day. Nice nice am I a planner or what. I’ll sign off for the moment. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy New Year?

Give thanks to the Lord our God and King His love endures forever. For He is good, He is above all things, His love endures forever.
Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever

What do you say to your grandpa who just wants to go home? Do you sit back and watch and think about the good times that you shared? Do you talk and converse hoping that he would be responsive? At this point I’m not sure.

The new year is a few days away and so much has happend this year for me. I just got engaged, finished up with school and stated a new/old career position. But with all of this I’m having a bitter/sweet time because my grandpa just wants to go home and I don’t think it’s his time. That’s my selfish nature talking, but you know. We’ll see tonight what happends :(

Free at Last …

“Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we are free at last!”

Not to make a mockery of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., but that’s how I feel after finally unofficially finishing my bachelors degree at Northeastern Illinois in Computer Science with a minor in Economics. My final grades were:

YOU HAVE A TOTAL OF 137 EARNED HOURS
Description Grade
Introduction to Biology B
Modern Database Management B
Server Side Web Development I
Cyberlaw B
Industrial Organization B

So, right now all I need to do is work on some course work for the “I” that I have in Server Side Web Development and I will officially be finished. I breathed a sigh of relief last Wednesday as I finished my final project for DB Management. I know that with my impending graduation tons of people are happy for me. This is an accomplishment for me as well, finally finishing something that I started. Now I can work on my café, and with Tyrus being the family barista can manage it. This is all a dream of course, but it would be nice to have something like that since I drink tons of coffee and I like socializing.

Well Christmas is coming up in less then a week. I have not finished all of my shopping yet. I have not finished cleaning my area of the house for the Christmas dinner at the house. I have not cleaned my room yet for Hun. What have I done…I’m not really sure, work and church stuff mostly. Nicole was asking me for my Christmas list the other day, and she found it rather funny so I’ll share. Besides an ETEN x500 glofiish and Dell Latitude D620 I was looking at the following ordered by desire:

  • A bath robe with matching slippers
  • Those shoes that have the wheels in them
  • Metal collar stays (the things you put in the collar of a button up, they’re usually plastic)
  • Wicking shirts (not tight under armor stuff, but the ones like a t-shirt or sleevless)
  • I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas (I know that’s not pc, but I’m a Christian so for me it’s Christmas) and I’ll be seeing you when I see you. Until then, stay safe and God bless!

Christmas Christmas Time is Here …

Well, Christmas is almost here and I can’t wait! This will be the first Christmas in two years that I’ll be spending with my family. My how the time flew by. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely will miss the sunny AZ; playin’ ball in December with the Phx crew, the white elepahant time and just hanging out with the Mah’s out there. I remember the first time Eddie and I stayed over at the Mah’s old place. Now him and Kimmie are married and I’m engaged, CRAZY! But I still missed my family while I was there, you know. I wonder how were going to work all of this out, where we’ll be spending what holidays. Flip a coin? Jon-ken-po?

This past thanksgiving I spent out there. It was nice to see Nicole’s family again. Her older brother also got married Thanksgiving weekend. I added some pictures of the wedding in my gallery. Good times.

I also added my family reunion pictures as well. Every 3 years or so my mom’s side heads out to Vegas for a reunion since it’s a midpoint for everyone. We have people coming in from Hawaii, the west coast and Illinios.

    That’s all for now.
