They don’t call Chicago the “windy city” for nothing…Some say it has to do with politics, while that may be true, if you work in the loop you may experience this phenomena. For instance, today it was raining so I leave the house with my umbrella and walk to the train and my legs get soaked, just by the sheer volume of water. I get off the train downtown and the wind is so strong, it renders my umbrella useless. I saw over a dozen of them tossed in the trash because the wind folds them backwards and bends the frame. I walked for 5 minuets with the umbrella directly in front of me then said forget it (I didn’t want my umbrella to end up like the ones on the garbage). I get to work and take a sip of my coffee to find that the wind blew some lady’s (I think) HAIR into my mug! Ewwwwww, gross!
So, how was everyone’s thanksgiving? Always a good time for me chillin’ with friends and family.

So on Monday I was unusually tired at work, I was dragging the entire day. I developed a slight headache and my eyes became sensetive to movement. Then my muscles started … not to ache but they just felt weird. So on my way home I’m thinking I’m not going to go to school. I get home and don’t feel any different. Watched a little UFC, emailed Nicole back and forth and went to sleep after dinner. Pa woke me up because he needed my camera, so I get up show him how to use it, email Nicole again, then back to sleep. Nicole calls when she gets off, so she woke me up around 11:30, we talk a little. I forget that we get cut off and fall asleep. I wake up at 12 something to call her back.
I woke up this morning cold, with a headache, I feel like poop. Didn’t do much, I drank tons of OJ, had some ramen for lunch, 2 cans of squirt. My hair feels oily, things are starting to taste the same (which is not good). I have to head into work tomorrow, because my boss is taking the day off, so I hopes I’m better. Lazy days stink, but maybe it’s my body telling me to rest…if that’s the case it needs to toughen up then! I’ll update more later…lots to talk about.

So I’m walking to the train this morning thinking, I’m glad I put in my liner today. It was 33°F Downtown this morning, crazy. Though I put in the liner, I was still freezing. Had to have my Thermos of coffee so 1 hand was always exposed, my face felt like it was going to fall off and I’m wearing a somewhat thin polo so my tummy was a little chilly. So yes, winter is rolling into Chicago. Thanksgiving next week, wow. This year is flying by.
With thanksgiving comes many traditions. Lakeside bowling in the morning, it’s always good to see old friends. A game of football before dinner, although I think I’ll watch from the sidelines this year. I’m getting too old to be playing tackle football with the younggins. Saturday is all church gym nite. I want to plan either a racing or paintball outing during the day though. So much to do these next few weeks. I’m flying west again for Christmas, spending time with the inlaws (no I’m not married, but you all call them that anyways) for 7 days. Always a good time out there, of course I’ll chill with my girls Deb and Julia, Mr. Hom. So, I’m looking forward to the holiday season.

Someone told me, “A great leader is someone who people naturally want to follow. He’s someone who doesn’t have to work hard to gain the respect of other people, there’s just something about him.”
There are very few people in the 25 years that I’ve lived, whom this statement applies to. I pay my respect to Hiro Miyagawa. He was a leader in my church … a man who I can only wish that I would have conversed with a little more. He always had a smile on his face and was a joker, even during his trying times. I remember the day I shook his hand as I passed and paid my respect to his daughter, I’m in tears, and as hard as it must have been for him, he made ME smile when it should have been the other way around. He was a man of character, endurace and vision. I treasure those moments when we chatted. He leaves behind a legacy and it’s evident through his daughter and grandchildren … even his son-in-laws.
In Hebrews it says this, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” I know that’s what he’d want for us, his extended family at CCP.
Auntie Gail and Uncle Rich has always been there for my family and for me personally. One of two couples that I call uncle and auntie who aren’t related. Hiro has been my uncle too, I guess by default, he inherited the name because as I grew I just didn’t know what to call him…because he was more to me then Mr. Miyagawa. I wonder when the cloud of death will pass over us. At last he’s home, forever … My prayers and thoughts are with you guys.
