Happy Birthday Nicole!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICOLE!! It’s also our third anniversary! Honestly I never thought I’d be in a dating/courting relationship for that long. I figured after a couple of years, I’d be married :-D Honestly it’s been the most challenging 3 years of my life. I say this because Nicole has challenged me in every aspect of my life; I doubt I’d be working my butt off in school to finish up by Dec. ‘06, I don’t know where I’d stand on a few topics on top of that I probably wouldn’t have grown as much as a leader if not for her. God has used her in many behind-the-scenes ways … They say behind every good man there is a good woman (granted that’s not the case all the time, but in my case, I’d say so). I just want to take this time to say that I love Nicole and I really appreciate her honesty and love for me, among other things.
Ok, no more mushy stuff. I played ball with the Tuesday nite crew again. I don’t think I’ve been this sore since the first few times! I woke up and for some reason my body feels like putty. On top of that I didn’t even play well; bricked two fast brakes :( “GOSH!”
School is going to be rough this semester. Perhaps not in terms of toughness, but moreso in bearing with the toughness of sitting in class. On of my classrooms (it’s the lecture hall) is like 500 degrees, so naturally I’m uncomfortable. I have the same professor for my two CompSci classes, and he s p e a k s v e r y s l o w l y . The Macro Econ class may just be tough. So yes, rough 16 weeks.
Alright, back to work I go.

EDIT: If you drive in Chicago, I would encourage you to get some gas today. If you didn’t know gas prices are expected to shoot up 20 cents by Thursday, due to Katrina.

Fall 2k5, Here I Come :)

School starts today! I’m semi-excited and yet not really. You know that I like to stay busy, I’m just hoping that I will be able to handle the load this semester. Let’s see, I have:

  • Chemistry and Society - M, W
  • Comp Org w/ Assembly - M
  • Intermed Macro Economics - T, Th
  • Data Structures - W
  • I checked Rate my Professor and all of my profs seem to be good! Yay. I hope I can avoid paying $500 for books :( Pray that I can make friends, be out going in my classes and that I’m not so anti-social!

I just got a Gmail account set up with Google Talk. If you want to message me my tag is dyamagiwa.

This past weekend was eventful :) I worked on the Chi-KO 2k3 Cross Culture video with Yoko. I know some of you are now jumping off the walls. I do apologize for my laziness! Some of us went over to his place last night to bbq as well, it’s been a while since we all got together like that. I got a change to watch “Diaries of a Mad Black Woman” with Nicole too. It was a good mix of drama and comedy, with quite a twist!

Again don’t forget about the CCP Men’s Basketball League or the JASC Bloomingdale’s Event.

Nicole will be turning 24 this Wednesday! She’s getting OLD! We will also be celebrating 3 years together. I’ll admit, that it wasn’t always easy … we have had some trying times, but I look back on it and I’m glad that both of us stuck it out. I’ll post more about that later. Ta ta for now.

    Hey Buddy!

“Hey buddy … is that a 4 cylinder or 6?”
    “It’s a 6.”
“Cool man, I used to have one of those, stick!”
    “Yea, mine is manual too.”
“Pretty sweet ride huh. I liked mine! The 6 cylinder is pretty awesome, but the 4 is weak.”

So I’m on my way home from ballin’ last night with the Tuesday night crew and this back Neon pulls up next to me. This guy leans out of his car and we proceed to have the previous conversation. :D hehe how funny is that, someone likes my Probe! Then as we went on our wayhe waved to me!

Ok on to other stuff. Let’s see, this Exchange training class is pretty sweet, it’s keeping my attention and I haven’t fallen alseep yet in the 3 days I’ve been here. It kind helps that I’m the noob here and need to keep on my toes, plus one of Yoko’s coworkers are here, “Do you know him??!” We get free sweets in the morning, coffee, pop … LUCKYYY! Plus I eat lunch over at CME with Yoko and his IT crew, pretty sweet.

I haven’t been doing much these past few days other then read o.o, yes read … and they’re books too! I mentioned that I’m reading Five Love Languages and so far it is good. I just finished chapter 4 (which is where the languages begin, 1-3 are intro).

I toss in a plug for JASC. If you’re into shopping then here’s an offer you cannot refuse. It’s the Bloomingdale’s, The Shopping Benefit I believe the event benefits both the buyer and JASC. Bloomingdales will match a certain portion of the money taken in from this event and donate that to the Japanese American Service Committee (JASC). So, all in all it’s a good thing. If you would like to do some of the shopping call the numbers listed in the link, I’ll be happy to drive down and get the coupon for you!

I’ll also toss in a plug for the CCP Men’s Basketball League. The information as well as registration are here. It’s a fun league, the team I was on for the spring season won the championships :D Oh yea! So, if you’re 18 - 30, free Sundays and are interested in a friendly, but competitive game of basketball sign up! It’s $50 for 11 weeks of play starting September 11th (registration includes a shirt).

    OK, That’s all for now.

    Training

So work sent to me a Microsoft Exchange Training class. It’s pretty nice, like summer school in a week. I sit in a classroom for 8 hours every day for a week. I mean it’s nice that work is paying for the class and that I’m learning something that I don’t really know that well. So this is where I’ll be for the next week, IMG @ 200 W. Monroe.
I have a little story that reminded me of camp, I forgot to mention it earlier so I’ll do so now :) I was eating lunch on Thursday with my boss and coworker at Giordano’s Pizza. So I’m sitting there looking around and I notice this guy had his polo shirt on inside out, hehe, how funny is that! It was just a quick reminder of camp and perhaps the things that I committed to.
Northeastern starts in a week, I’m kinda excited about going back for fall, and not really. Yoko mentioned that the computer science classes that I’m taking are going to be a little difficult. Also, I’m not to enthusiastic about paying for school, unfortunately that’s the consequences of my unfaithfulness to school early on.
OK, class is going to start soon, Beefyman logging off.

    Sad News :(

Well this weekend is flying by. I did a little shopping today for a few things, among those things would be Nicole birthday gift and a gift for our 3rd anniversary. It’s been a loooong, trying, but wonderful 3 years. I watch UFC 54 tonight on PPV, awesome. Joe, John and David are currently over.
So now on to the sad news. So I went into the summer taking my first session of summer school in which I had to go to class (previously I only did online). Pulled out two As for my early sessions. I had a Saturday class that ended just a few weeks ago. This final was a little hard, I probably didn’t know 1/3 of the fill in the blank questions (so I just left ‘em blank) and for the xhtml that I had to code it took me almost 3 hours (I was sweating at the end because I finished just as the final ended! Needless to say there was some stuff that I just did not understand. I was hoping for straight As at the beginning of summer when this class ended I was praying that I passed. Sooo I’ve been anxiously waiting for my grade.

    Semester GPA: 3.67
    Cumulative GPA: 3.43
YOU HAVE A TOTAL OF 95 EARNED HOURS
    Description Grade
    Programming II A
    Client Side Web Development B
    Geology,Resources & Envirnmnt A

    So I’m sad that I didn’t get an A, but I know I didn’t deserve it. B is good too, I haven’t seen grades this good … hmmm … ever I think.
I should get to bed here, I have a busy day tomorrow. G’nite all.
