1/4 of a Century
Officially today around 6am I’ve lived to see 1/4 of a century pass by. Off the top of my head I think about the Apple IIe that I used to work on in grammar school and the Mac IIsi (our first computer) and see where we are now. I think about our apartment on Avers or the trips to Canada when we went house boating … Our many years camping and fishing, the summers at Lake Geneva, moving from Sheffield to Park Ridge to our place near Peterson. The many trips I’ve taken, and the many years of college I’ve been in
The 25 years of God’s grace on my life! So much has happened in the past years that I’m thankful for. I just want to say thanks to my family and friends for the 25 wonderful years, and hopefully many more to come! Nicole is coming down to take me out to lunch today…yay! Then family dinner tonight.
I know it’s been a long time since I’ve channed. I’ve posted some new pictures … another wedding that Nicole and I had the pleasure of attending. Let me tell you about this wedding. It was at Holy Name Cathedral, down town Chicago. What a beautiful place, my grandma would have loved the pipe organ. We headed over to the Museum of Contemporary Art for the reception, where we were greeted with 3 gentlemen: 1 holding a tray of mango martinis, 1 with apple martinis and the third with red wine. We chilled outside for an hour or so eating hordurves (king crab cake, manderine chicken salad, cheeze and tomatoe skewer, sushi, potatoe cake with salmon on top), drinking martinis (open martini bar) and listening to live music. The place settings outside were elegant, I couldn’t wait to see what was inside. So we walk in, and our tables … wow, centerpieces were huge, very elegant. The food was catered by Wolfgang’s catering company, there was a sweet table, the butter was good too! The cake was square, but looked nice … it was tiramisu cake. They had a live band that played everything from the 60’s up ’til today. I was dying when they busted out some Outkast. Nicole and I left around 11:30, but we could have stayed until the end if I didn’t have to wake up early. Thanks for the invite Mike and Cierine, we had a blast!!
My father had his picnic last Saturday too, kind of like a customer and employee appreciation gathering. Always a blast seeing old friends of my father and hanging out with them. So many people donate stuff, from food to beer, he has a raffle every year too and a lot of people brought stuff for that.
I’ll update more later, for now have a great day!
