The past few months has been good times for me. With the CCP Men’s Basketball League starting up again, joining the Soft Balls, my first taste of organized sports and pseudo-running, I have been enjoying myself. The family went camping last weekend for the annual Memorial Day Weekend camping trip. Other then most people getting burned by the sun, it was a good time. Baggo was the game of choice for most. Nicole made a special trip out to Chicago to join us, and then stayed in Chicago until last Thursday. We did a lot of eating (Texas de Brazil, Walker Brothers andLou’s), and just hangin’ out, something we don’t get to do very often. I received an email early in May saying that I passed my last class, soooo you are unofficially looking at a college graduate. Unbelievable isn’t it?!? So I will have a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Economics. Heads up for a party sometime later this summer to commemorate my 8 years in college (technically 6 or 7 because I took time off).

Well a couple weeks ago, in my stupidity, I signed up for and ran in the Chase Corporate Challenge and ran with some of my coworkers. Portillo’s after the run was “D to the E to the L - I - C - I - O - U - S!!” I finished with a time of 33:30. So again, in my haste, I signed up for the Chicago Half Marathon (if you do a search for my name you’ll see me registered). I was a getting that feeling in your stomach when you know you will regret something. So, yea Yoko, Erin, Kristen, Dan and I are signed up. JOIN US!! If anyone wants to run with me in the morning 5:00am, let me know. I’m trying to get on a regiment.

Ok, I’m sure I bored you enough. Take care.

So I made it through my first softball injury (I’m debating whether I should post pictures, due to the graphic nature of the photos). After my sliding incident I decided to get myself one of these sexy things.

”The Cuzz catcher sliding short features perforated neoprene inner pads to protect and soothe the inner thigh and upper groin area. Designed especially for the female body. 80% nylon/20% Lycra® spandex fabric soothes muscles and wicks away moisture. Low-rise waist and seamless front with unique horizontal inseam for extreme comfort. Made in USA.”

Notice it smoothes muscles and wicks away moisture. Hehe, just kidding. I did buy some sliding shorts though … men’s sliding shorts. The Softballs aren’t doing so hot at the moment. Last week we took a two run loss (I think). Our last game against Stink Stars turned out to be a 30 – 3 loss. On the up side, I’m thinking we can’t do much worse, so it’s all up hill from here.

Last weekend I took an MRI for a study on how Japanese-American’s think. At least I think that’s what the study was about. The tester just sent me a few shots of the brain.

<img src="http://cocoabeefy.com/piktars/smallmri03.jpg" alt="Inside My Head" / height="50%"/>

Pretty cool huh? I don’t really know what I’m looking at, but if any of you medical professionals out there see anything wrong, let me know, k?

With Memorial Day weekend approaching I have this bitter sweet feeling. On the one side Nicole will be coming in for a bit, the Softballs are looking for another “w” and the annual camping trip = good times But then Jan is leaving for Baltimore She accepted an awesome position at Johns Hopkins where I am sure she will do very well. Thanks Ashley, Heddie, Stella and Susan for the invite. You guys rock. Good times, good times. We will have to party again sometime!! I am going to miss you bud! Let me know if you need anything.

Peace for now

Just a day
Just an ordinary day
Just tryin’ to get by…

I feel like that ordinary boy sometimes, especially when I think about my fiancée. What was I doing when we stumbled upon each other? I don’t think at the time I wasn’t looking for a serious relationship, nor did I ever think I could ever get so lucky, ahh well that’s all history now. It’s almost 2 years before the wedding bells start ringing for us. Many of you know the ordeal that Nicole is currently going through and we appreciate your prayers and thoughts. It certainly isn’t easy for me, someone who is deathly afraid of hospitals and pretty much the entire medical industry. We know this life is not our own, and not our will but God’s be done. That is pretty much what we look to now.

On another note, I received an email from my professor last week. He said that I passed my final class, so all I’m waiting on now is that piece of paper that says I put in my time. It’s an exciting thought knowing that my “undergrad” years are finally behind me. The odd thought is that I don’t know if I know how to operate without school. So I’m going to try and get a few MS certifications this year and the GMATs are in the back of my mind.

<img src="http://cocoabeefy.com/piktars/smallsoftballs.jpg" alt="Softballs 2007" / height="50%"/>

This summer I’m playing on 2 softball teams and a basketball team. My company league plays 16″ Wednesday nights at Grant Park. The Softballs play 12″ Friday nights, and my church league plays basketball on Sundays. ESD softball is up to a slow start. We’re 0 - 1 at the moment, but we played one of the better teams. I went 3 for 3, which was pretty unusual so we’ll see how this week goes if the field doesn’t flood. The Softballs however had a great opener. We drew a crowd of 5 people, one of whom was our sponsor We were a little nervous early in the game as many of us have not played together and most have not been in a 12″ league. We ended up with a “W” 18- 1. Though my stats aren’t official, I went 2 for 2 with 2 strikeouts oh yea. Playing on the Blue team this year. That particular color has been the team to beat for the past 4 seasons. Not that the color matters at all, it’s just nice to know you have a winning color. Anyway we’re in second place at the moment behind red Booo, but that’s ok, I think we have a solid team. You can check out our schedule and stats @ CCP Men’s Basketball League.

I think that’s all the update I have for now. Shout out to my future brother in-law for the talks. Thanks Eddie.

So it has been a long time since my last update. So let me fill you in on the last month and a half:

My father is doing great now. He’s back up to 100%, thank God! We really appreciate your prayers, thoughts and support throught the whole ordeal.

My youngest brother just turned 18. Wow the time is flying. We went to Texas de Brazil with the Yoko’s to celebrate :yum:

I went to Vegas for my first March Madness invitational. Although I didn’t win any money, I’m happy that I came back with something and had tons of fun!

Teaching Sunday School is rough at times, but a good time for me and the children. I am attempting to think more and more like kids. Although some may argue that I do that already.

Nicole and I are doing great! I am going to be going out to Duke in a couple of weeks to chill with the ever so fun Duke PA students. We’re planning to visit Wilmington (they have nice beaches there I guess). I’ll be a good time. Hopefully we can squeeze in some planning.

I think that is all for now. Peace!
